Before you start
You need Badger installed on your iPhone, an existing account, Screen Time permission, and an app group. New to Badger? Join the waitlist for availability updates.
- Sign in to Badger on your iPhone and complete Screen Time authorization.
- Open Settings → App groups. Use Assign Apps to Group to select distractions, keeping essential apps available.
- Name the group something recognizable. Use “Social” in these examples only if you created that group.
Connection requirements
Your assistant and account must support remote MCP over Streamable HTTP with OAuth. Client menus and account access vary. Use its instructions for adding a remote MCP server with this address:
https://api.gobadger.app/mcpChoose OAuth sign-in. A local-only MCP setup is a different connection method.
Connect Badger
- Add Badger in your assistant’s connector or remote MCP settings.
- On the Badger authorization page, sign in with the phone number on your existing account. Enter the verification code on that page.
- Review the requesting connection and select the app groups it may control.
- Select Allow and connect, then return to your assistant.
The connection is ready when your assistant can list the groups you authorized.
Try your first request
- Ask: “Which Badger app groups can you control?”
- For an authorized Social group, ask: “Block Social because I need to finish this draft.”
- Open an app in that group on your iPhone. Check whether it is blocked.
- Ask: “Unblock Social because I finished the draft.” Check the app again.
Each request needs a reason. Acceptance confirms receipt; your iPhone confirms the result. Active commitments can reject external requests.
Manage access
Open Manage connections. Pause stops new requests, Resume restarts them, and Disconnect removes access. Disconnecting does not unblock existing groups; manage those in Badger. Learn the app’s Emergency unblock before you need it.
The connector shares group names and identifiers, not app membership, usage history or confirmed phone state. See the privacy policy for Badger’s wider data handling.
Fix a connection problem
- No groups: check your account, create a group on the iPhone, then authorize it for the connection.
- Group not authorized: use a returned group, or create a new connection with the required group selected.
- Connection unavailable: check whether it is paused or disconnected. Reconnect from your assistant if needed.
- Request not allowed: check for an active commitment and manage the plan in Badger.
- Accepted, but unchanged: check the intended iPhone, app group and Screen Time permission. Contact support if the result stays unclear.
