Understanding usage and changing access
StayFree is a sensible candidate if you want to understand usage across devices and turn that picture into limits. Badger is worth evaluating when you want its personal agent involved in iPhone app access, with optional requests from an existing assistant. StayFree is not purely static: its iPhone release history also documents a Wellbeing Coach with recommendations based on usage history.
Reports can answer a different question
StayFree's official site emphasizes cross-device statistics as well as immediate blocks, schedules, daily limits and session limits. Its Android listing describes exports and device-group features. Check the relevant version rather than transferring an Android reporting or blocking feature to native iPhone apps.
Someone who cannot tell whether distractions have moved from phone to browser may value that broader picture. A person who wants to inspect trends or export a record has another reason to evaluate a reporting-oriented product. Those needs differ from already knowing which phone apps you want unavailable during a task. Decide which question you are trying to answer before comparing feature counts.
Coaching is part of this comparison too
The official iPhone version history says version 3.14 introduced a Wellbeing Coach offering personalized screen-time recommendations based on app-usage history. It would therefore be inaccurate to describe StayFree as nothing but fixed rules or to give Badger an exclusive claim to guidance.
Recommendations from usage history and a personal-agent access workflow should still be evaluated on their actual behavior. What decision does the guidance help you make? Does it suggest a change, start a restriction or ask you to configure something? This article does not infer undocumented powers for either coach from the word AI or make a comparison of their intelligence.
Badger's agent and its separate connector
Badger includes its own proactive agent in the iPhone app. You can explain the goal, obstacles and changes of plan, then work with it on an action connected to access. A real need can affect the plan; asking alone may not end a commitment. Learn the in-app emergency unblock. This does not establish equivalence with every StayFree reporting or coaching feature.
The optional external connector is narrower than the in-app product. A supported assistant can list authorized group names and identifiers and request blocks or unblocks with reasons. It does not receive app-usage activity, apps within a group or confirmed device state. Active commitments can reject requests. Check a selected app on the iPhone after acceptance. Do not choose the connector expecting it to export the reporting data this StayFree comparison discusses.
Cross-device does not mean feature parity
StayFree offers phone, desktop and browser products, with its user guide providing setup guidance. Its iOS listing explicitly discusses linking with Chrome and Firefox extensions. Review each device's required permissions and pairing steps. A combined report is not automatically proof that every blocking mode behaves the same on every operating system.
The site also advertises selective in-app/feed blocking. Do not assume this means removing feeds inside native iPhone social apps; establish the specific platform and supported surface first. Begin with one device and a small distraction list, check the report and restriction, then add other devices deliberately. If synchronized blocking sessions are the main goal, also compare Freedom.
Cost and the fit decision
The official site offers free downloads, and the reviewed iOS listing is free. That does not establish that every feature on every platform will remain free. Inspect the current offer and any purchase terms for your selected product. Badger's availability and price should be checked independently; no universal saving is claimed.
Does StayFree offer coaching? Its iPhone history explicitly documents the Wellbeing Coach. Does Badger's outside assistant see my screen-time history? The blocking connector does not expose it. Choose StayFree if reporting, usage-based guidance or cross-device analysis is your priority. Choose Badger when you want its personal-agent plan and optional assistant-originated iPhone requests. Neither choice is a substitute for checking the resulting block on the device.
