Start with the distraction surface

BlockSite deserves a look if your main requirement is website rules, categories, URL keywords or browser redirection. Badger fits an iPhone user who wants a personal agent involved in app blocking, including optional requests from an outside assistant. A distracting domain on a computer and an app group on a phone are different targets; identify yours before comparing the products.

Website rules can be the right tool

The BlockSite product site advertises a family of browser, mobile and desktop products with scheduling, focus sessions, category blocking and redirects. A person trying to avoid recurring news sites during work may prefer configuring website rules. Someone who wants a blocked-page redirect to a useful destination has another concrete reason to evaluate it.

Do not treat every feature advertised for the family as available identically on every platform. Browser extensions and desktop products have their own setup and permissions. Neither label alone establishes that all native desktop applications can be blocked. Match the documentation to your device, browser and the specific distraction you want to restrict.

On iPhone, a keyword matches the URL

BlockSite's iOS keyword guide says matching is based on the website URL, not the words displayed within a page. It also says this does not hide search results. If your requirement is filtering page content or removing a social feed inside a native app, a URL-keyword rule should not be presented as that capability.

The iOS setup guide distinguishes app-usage limits using Screen Time permissions from scheduled blocking that requires its VPN for sites. Review the permissions for the mode you choose. Test one target first and check both the restriction and how you remove or end it.

Read the sync scope carefully

Although the main site promotes multi-platform sync, the specific sync help article is narrower: desktop-browser syncing and Android-to-Android syncing are supported, Android-to-desktop is described as rolling out, and iOS sync is not yet available. That current help scope matters if synchronized iPhone/computer lists are the reason you are buying.

A broad cross-device badge is not a replacement for checking the exact pair of devices. Someone working across supported desktop browsers may still find sync useful. An iPhone user should not assume the same configuration reaches every device automatically. For coordinated multi-device sessions, compare the requirements in Badger vs Freedom too.

What Badger controls

Badger includes its own proactive personal agent. You can discuss the goal and how the plan should change when circumstances change. An action toward your goal can be linked to app access; asking alone may not end a commitment. The app's emergency unblock is part of the return path you should learn before relying on it.

The optional outside-assistant connection can list authorized iPhone group names and identifiers and accept reasoned block/unblock requests. It does not expose group membership, usage activity or confirmed phone state. Active commitments may reject a request. After acceptance, verify the selected app on the iPhone. The interface does not establish URL-keyword filtering, desktop blocking or automatic observation of your browsing.

Offers and a fit decision

BlockSite has free and paid offers. Its homepage currently advertises a seasonal lifetime promotion; a seasonal amount should not be treated as permanent standard pricing. Inspect the current purchase scope, device coverage and renewal or lifetime terms. Badger's availability and pricing remain separate checks, and this page does not claim one product costs less.

Does an iOS keyword scan page text? No: the reviewed guide specifies URL matching. Does the current help establish iOS sync? It says iOS sync is not yet available. Choose BlockSite when its documented website controls and supported browser workflow match your requirement. Choose Badger when agent-supported iPhone app groups are the target. Those choices solve different problems rather than producing one universal winner.
